「U.S ARMY メタルボタン」
フロントボタンには、メタルボタンを使用。
尿素ボタンに変わる1940年代から数年間した採用されなかったモデル。
生地の色に相性が良い、黄色味がかかったタイプが使用されています。

「フロントポケット」
フライトポケット仕様。
60年代から縦ポケットに変更されます。

U.S. ARMY metal buttons
Metal buttons are used for the front buttons.
This model was not used for several years from the 1940s, when it was replaced by urea buttons.

US ARMY 40’s Chino Pants
チノパンツとして有名なカーキパンツは1937年の終わりに仕様が定められ、1939年から全陸軍の兵下士官向けに正式採用されました。
8.2オンスのカーキ色のツイル生地で、太いシルエット、ワーキングデニムと同じ亜鉛製のメタルボタンが取り付けられました。
当初は、夏用の制服としてだけでなく野戦、戦闘服としても使用する目的で採用されました。
1941年のアメリカ参戦後、大量配備に備えるため仕様変更を行い材料の節約、工場の簡素化を行いました。
(メタルボタンから尿素ボタンへ変更、シルエットの見直し等)
1942年後半から43にかけて、国内向けと海外の戦地向けの2種類が製造され、戦地向けのものには前合わせに毒ガス防具用のガスフラップが取り付けられました。
しかしながら、野戦、戦闘服としては明るいカーキ色が戦地での植生と合わない、ジャングル戦での使用時に耐久性に問題が生じたため次第に制服としての使用のみに限定され、1944年後半には完全に夏季制服としての着用になりました。

US ARMY 40’s Chino Pants
The famous khaki pants, known as Chino Pants, were specified at the end of 1937 and officially adopted for all Army enlisted men in 1939.
They were made of 8.2 oz. khaki twill fabric, had a thicker silhouette, and were fitted with the same zinc metal buttons as working denim.
It was initially adopted for use as a summer uniform as well as field and combat uniform.
After the U.S. entry into the war in 1941, the specifications were changed to save materials and simplify the factories in preparation for mass deployment.
(Metal buttons were replaced with urea buttons, the silhouette was revised, etc.)
From late 1942 to 1943, two types were produced, one for the domestic market and the other for the overseas war zones. The one for the war zones was fitted with a gas flap for poison gas protection on the front joint.
However, as field and combat uniforms, the bright khaki color did not match the vegetation in the war zone, and there were durability problems when used in jungle warfare, so it was gradually limited to use as a uniform only, and by late 1944 it was worn completely as a summer uniform.
